Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

18^th – 25^th January

This week is a chance for everyone to seek a closer union with Christ. This year's theme comes to us from the churches of Brazil. Increasingly, in Brazil, some Christian groups compete with one another for a place on the mass media, for new members and for public funds.

The Brazilian churches have begun to recognise that intolerance should be dealt with in a positive way - respecting diversity and promoting dialogue as a permanent path of reconciliation and peace in fidelity to the gospel. We can share this        recognition.

The central event in Cork will this Year  take place in Ardfallen Church, Douglas Road, on Sunday 25^th January 25^th @ 7:30pm. 

Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Presentation of the Lord: Monday Feb. 2^nd: Blessing of Candles at 10am Mass.

Feast of St. Blaise— Tuesday February 3rd

The Blessing of Throats (using the candles from the previous day’s Feast) will take place at the morning 10.00am Mass in Bantry.

There will also be a Prayer Service with Blessing of Throats in Bantry Church at 7.30pm on Tuesday evening Feb 3^rd.

Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes: Wednesday 11^th February. World Day of the Sick: The Sacrament of the Sick (Anointing) will be administered during the 10.00am Mass in St. Finbarr’s Church & during the 5.30pm Mass in the Hospital Chapel. All who might be in need of the Sacrament are invited to receive it.

Spring Station Masses 2015

It is hoped to have Station Masses for Spring 2015 starting on 17^th January, and continuing through February, March & April.

The Bantry Hospice Project would like to extend a sincere thank you to Brian and Eleanor Magee who donated €510 towards the Bantry Hospice which was from the proceeds of their Christmas lights display in Kealkill. Thanks to all who supported.

Bantry Church weekend of 10^th/11^th Jan: €1841

The Bantry Lifeboat will be hosting their annual ‘Dinner Dance’ on Saturday January 24^th at the Maritime Hotel. Following a great meal and good company there will be music with the very popular Katsquire. Tickets available from all members of crew or from Toby at fast.net, Bridge Street Bantry. Historical Society Talk

A Talk will be given by Tony Miller Archaeologist on Ballaun Stones and Holy Wells of West Cork.  This takes place in Christian Fellowship Church Bantry on Monday 19th January 2015 at 8.00pm.  Hosted by Bantry Historical Society and everyone is very welcome.

St. Colum's, and your local National School invite all the girls and boys in Junior and Senior Infants to St. Colum's Hall for FUN & GAMES from 10-11am for 4 Saturday mornings, commencing Sat. 17th January(until Sat. 7th Feb). Running, Jumping and Throwing, Catching and Kicking! Tea and Coffee for parents. TELL YOUR FRIENDS, SEE YOU THERE...

Basic Introduction to Computers and the Internet Classes will start by day on Monday 19 January and Wednesday 21 January from 11.30am to 1.30pm and by night on Monday 19 January from 7pm to 9pm in West Cork Development Partnership Offices (former Gaelscoil) in Bantry.  The courses are 4 weeks in duration and are free of charge. The Bantry Branch of the Irish Red Cross Society will hold Their Annual General Meeting on Sunday 18th January at 7pm in Bantry Boy's Club.
