BANTRY PARISH NEWSLETTER
The Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday July 14th 2013
At
the beginning of the Second World War the Russian Army couldn’t promise any of
their soldiers bullets or guns, all they could promise was that there would
always be somebody to replace them. That is what is happening to Fr. Donal and
myself. We want to thank yourselves, the people of the parish of Bantry, who
have been so kind and good to us throughout our time here. We want to thank all
the people who have worked with us and helped us along the way. The sacristans,
secretary, collectors, altar servers, choirs, ministers of the Word and
Eucharist, people who look after the churches inside and outside, the Sisters
of Mercy, teachers & Boards of Management of our schools and the many other
people we have forgotten. We want to remember also the priests who have served
here with us. We know that we have been both privileged and lucky to have been
given the opportunity to have worked in the parish of Bantry and while we are
sad to be leaving hopefully we can take consolation from that. Both of us ask
God to bless you and we pray God’s blessing too on Fr. Martin Keohane as he
returns to the parish and to Fr. Sean Crowley as he begins his priestly
ministry. Fr. Anthony
Farewell to Fr. Donal & Fr. Anthony
Always for Others
You are the image and likeness of God
But with you the morning awakens
With the call to rise
Not for you
But always for others.
God handpicked you from a myriad of souls
Molded you since you were a babe
To prepare you for a journey
Not for you
But always for others.
God blessed you with wisdom
To use to give form to his plans
And love to carry them out
Not for you
But always for others.
Mary walks with you
Guiding and loving you
For to her you are a Christ
Not for you
But always for others.
You hold the Body of Christ
Embrace his name and proclaim it
And a father and counselor you have become
Not for you
But always for others.
God forever bless you
Walk and carry you when your feet are weary
Bring peace and joy to your heart
For though your life is never for you
It is Christ’s and he delights in you.
